Changes to Buses
Revised bus times and routes: 30 April 2008
Officers from the Local Authority have carried out a study of student numbers using the various bus routes and as a result have made some changes which should hopefully reduce waiting times for several students and remove the services that were running almost empty. The main changes are:
-
the late buses are running slightly earlier so that students are not waiting for buses after activities/late lessons
-
the 812 and 813 routes that ran immediately after school have been combined
-
the middle afternoon No 5 service has been removed
-
the 819, 820 and 821 services have been combined
These measures mean that all services apart from the late buses will run at 3.00pm or thereabouts and thus students will not have to wait as before if they are leaving school at the end of the normal day. It should also hopefully mean less congestion in the village as buses should not be arriving and leaving at the same time.
A PDF timetable of all buses can be downloaded here
As you may be aware, the LA is in the process of improving safety in the bus bay but this has been delayed due to a problem with supply of new railings. When complete, there will be one entry point for pedestrians onto the bus apron which is more easily supervised by staff. This is something I have been trying for ten years to have sorted! However, the layout means there is only space for six buses to load passengers whilst there is space for a further two or three waiting. Students will need to be patient and wait for their bus if it cannot get into a loading bay immediately. This should be only a matter of minutes.
The changes will be brought into effect from and including 9th June 2008. A revised schedule is attached. Please keep this safe for future reference. Should you have queries or difficulties with the revised schedules, please address them to:
