Photo of Girl Studying LawA-Level Law has had a successful launch at Wolverley in September 2007 and has proven to be a very popular subject.  There has also been much interest from prospective students for A-Level Law at Wolverley Sixth Form and it is expected to be an increasingly popular course.

 

The A-Level course is broken into two parts, at AS, students learn about the English Legal system and how it operates. The Study of Law at A2 is focussed on Criminal Law and Justice.  The course is assessed entirely by external examination.  AS Unit 1 examinations takes place in January and Unit 2 examinations take place in the summer. A2 Unit 3 examination takes place in January and Unit 4 take place in the summer.

 

Trips include a visit to the Birmingham Crown Court and to a Police Station.

 

The study of A-Level Law allows those students interested in Law to find out what it involves, and then make an informed decision as to whether they wish to study Law at University.  It will put all potential Law undergraduates at an advantage as they would have developed knowledge of legal methods and academic essay writing.  A level Law develops a wide variety of skills which are sought after in a variety of professions (probation, police, journalist, solicitor and barrister).

 

The requirements to study Law at A level are 5 GCSEs (including English) at C grade or above.
