Wolverley CS Secondary School

 Dance

Dance is part of the Creative Arts department. All students have lessons in dance in years 7, 8 and 9 (about 15 classes per year).

We create dance exploring a variety of starting points, including cartoons, TV adverts and free running. We also look at a variety of styles such as Street, Contemporary and Lindy Hop.

Learning in lessons is split between forming, composing and appreciating dance.

If you really enjoy dance, you can take it at GCSE, AS and A2 as well as Bronze, Silver and Gold Arts Award.

If students want to get involved outside lessons, there are a variety of after-school clubs in which students can improve their dance skills and get involved in performances such as Worcestershire Voices and Visions Festival and Wyre Forest Dance Festival.

We also organise trips to see professional dance works such as Matthew Bourne's Nutcracker, Stomp and The Birmingham Royal Ballet.

We also have visiting dance artists who run workshops in many different styles of dance.
