Design Technology
KS3 Food and Textiles.
During these modules, students will develop practical and designing skills. In Food, use basic methods, understand importance of food safety and develop the ability to design and produce a new food product. In Textiles, use basic methods, develop skills on the sewing machine and be able to design and construct a simple product.
GCSE Food Technology
Students focus on developing a range of basic practical skills (pastry, cakes, bread, sauces etc) as preparation for their coursework project, which is worth 60% of their final grade.
GCSE Textiles Technology
Students will develop and learn a range of techniques through producing a number of products (e.g. corset, baby mat). They will then apply these to make an item for their coursework project.
GCSE Child Development
Students learn about all aspects of growth and development of children from 0 - 5 years. The coursework element for this subject is centred around the study of a child and identifying the skills it develops.
BTEC Health & Social Care
This 1 year course provides students with a basic foundation in many aspects of the health and social care world of work. Students look at many topics including body systems, health, nutrition, communication, and services. Students also get the opportunity to undertake a work placement.
