Modern Languages

French Lesson PhotoThe world is getting smaller!

KS3

Students are taught either French or Spanish in year 7 and the most able pupils then become double linguists in year 8. Pupils choose whether to continue with French and/or Spanish at the end of year 9.

All our staff are subject specialists and include native speakers of both French and Spanish.

We teach MFL using interactive whiteboards and students can use languages websites from both school and home. Some MFL lessons are taught in ICT rooms which allows students to prepare project work such as Power-Point presentations or allows them to do some independent learning. The MFL Department not only teaches languages, it teaches cultural awareness and aims at engaging students in the discovery and respect of other ways of life, other societies, beliefs, traditions and cultures.
