Music
As you would expect from a school with Music College Status, Wolverley has a thriving music department and encourages students to enjoy a wide range of musical activities.
At Key Stage 3, students study both practical and music theory, covering traditional and ethnic styles as well as contemporary styles such as rock and rap.
Students can then continue into key stage 4 to develop on the skills learnt.
The school boast a newly equipped classroom with the latest computer technology which the students use to compose and play their own music using MIDI keyboards and digital multitrack recording.
Students can also take music lessons in musical instruments including drums, saxophone, keyboards, flute, and vocal coaching. These are offered at a very reasonable rate compared to private lessons and have the convenience of being held at the school.
As well as studying for GCSE and A Level qualifications, students can take part in after school bands which perform regular public performances at venues including Kidderminster Town Hall and the Glades Centre.
The school organises special music events on an almost weekly basis. Typical examples of these include a Rock Master Class to write and record a song in a day at a professional recording studio, a visit from an African Choir and a drumming workshop.
There is also an annual trip abroad, which has been to Austria in recent years, where students not only take in the culture of the country, but also perform to their host in a series of gigs.
Most of all, at Wolverley, music is fun!
